At times, we think that our Amish quilters put all their dreams of a less "plain" life into their gorgeous and often flamboyant appliqued quilts. Even after looking closely at hundreds of Lancaster applique quilts we continue to be amazed by the freshness of design and coloring we see in new quilts. We also see a great diversity in quality of applique quilts and limit ourselves to showing and offering only top quality very well made quilts.
Many of the quilts shown here are marked indicating that they are "available now" for shipment --we are usually able to ship quilts so marked no later than the next business day. Other quilts shown have been sold, but often we are able to find a very similar well-made quilt that can be shipped quickly. Alternatively we can arrange for a similar quilt to be custom made.
Take your time looking through our applique gallery, there is a lot to see. We try to show respects for the quilts and the quilters by properly showing them. If you have questions about any quilt, please call or write to us.

Blue and Burgundy Friendship Hearts Quilt(hs4596)

A surprisingly delicate applique quilt with lots of quilting. While not a Baltimore Album quilt, this one has a lot of its charming characteristics. The heart blocks also share some of the characteristics of a Country Bride quilt. Great applique work, nicely quilted. Note the applique work on the pillow fold.

Gold and Tan Gency Applique Quilt(hs4581)

Wonderful appliqué work with lovely Batik style printed cotton fabrics specially selected by quilt designer Dolores Yoder. The Cross motif is especially nice. Delores made the top and an Amish friend did the quilting. Dolores signed her name and the year (2009) in embroidery on the front of the quilt near one of the corners.

Hannah selected the fabrics for this perfectly appliqued quilt. The autumn colors on the light tan background makes the carefully sewn applique work look even sharper! Note the care taken in selecting portions of the printed fabric to use for each piece of applique and how well each is oriented to enhance the overall design. Quite often the quantity and quality of the quilting on this style of quilt leaves a lot to be desired -- not here! Look at the very fine stitching.
