Irish Chain quilts are known to have been made in Lancaster since the early 1800's. While this quilt doesn't look at all old fashioned, the choice of fabrics, the quilting pattern, and the border are all similar to Irish Chain Quilts made in Lancaster in the early 20th Centuries. The backgound fabric is cream white. Note the wonderful bold prints, and the care taken in the quilting and piecework. Made by a local Amish woman. This quilt is symmetric and may be used sideways on a king size bed.

Very attractive fabric selections, excellent piecing -- note that flower leaves and stem are pieced not appliqued -- Wow!. Delores made the top and an Amish friend of hers did the quilting. Note the interesting border treatment. Dolores signed here name and the year (2006) in embroidery on the front of the quilt near one of the corners. Will make a wonderful bed quilt for a king size bed, or a fantastice wall hanging!
