Amish Wool Nine Patch Sunshine and Shadow Wall Hanging(wh4540)
35 inches wide by 35 inches long
Great coloring and design! A very special small quilt recently made by an elderly Amish woman with old wool fabric (some recovered from old Amish clothing). In the 19th and early 20th Centuries the Amish routinely made their quilts with woolen fabrics. The lack of availability of new woolen fabric has led to cottons being almost exclusively used in quilts made now. Here is your chance to own a bit of history! Well made here in Lancaster by an Amish woman. Note that this quilt has very thin batting as is seen in antique Amish quilts. This quilt also has an example of Amish frugality in that one of the four inch square blocks is actually pieced from tow fabric remnants.
