Red and White Nine Patch Quilt

A wonderful example of how less can be more -- a very simple design with just two fabrics and the result is a delightful stunning quilt!. With its crimson red fabric it will brighten any bedroom. Background is a tone on tone white cotton print. Note the fine quilting and careful patchwork piecing. Made here in Lancaster by an Amish woman. This quilt is symmetric and may be used sideways on a king-size bed.

The back of the quilt is covered with a terrific fine red on cream polka dot cotton print. The quilting density is good, averaging about 110 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The stitching is good with about 7 stitches per inch.A high quality quilt.

Given the quality of this handmade quilts' design and construction, as well the amount of effort that went into it, the price is remarkably low.

Irish Chain quilts are known to have been made in Lancaster since the early 1800's. While this quilt doesn't look old fashioned, the quilting pattern and the border treatment are similar to Irish Chain Quilts made in Lancaster in the 19th and early 20th Centuries.
