Prints & Certificates by Elaine M. Kozak

Elaine has been painting for decades, with a lull when she was raising her two daughters. She has painted in various mediums--oils, pastels, water colors and acrylics. Her favored methods include brush, palette knife and sponge.

"When I began to seriously study and experiment in art, I first concentrated on oils and pastels," she says. "My studies led me into palette knife painting, which turned out to be my favorite because it was unconfining and expressive."

Early in her career she concentrated on landscapes and portraiture. Her preferences evolved, affected deeply by events in her life: the death of her daughter Jenny at age 17, the marriage of daughter Kim and the birth of grandchildren.

"I now produce two distinct types of art, " she says. "Creative impressionism with a Victorian influence, and fanciful creations that have resulted in a line of decorative marriage certificates and whimsical birth certificates.

"In addition, I continue to be inspired by the charm of Lancaster County and the simple beauty of Amish life. Those paintings unfold from many sources, flowing from a thought or a feeling to a finished piece." She also created an "Angel of Hope" painting that the Lancaster County Chapter, American Cancer Society, used as an inspirational Christmas card.

Her special interest in French and American Impression reflects her desire to create art that is beautiful, graceful and meaningful.

She resides in Landisville, Lancaster County, PA with her husband Robert.
