Irish Chain quilts are known to have been made in Lancaster since the early 1800's. While this quilt doesn't look at all old fashioned, the choice of fabrics, the quilting pattern, and the border are all similar to Irish Chain Quilts made in Lancaster in the early 20th Centuries. Note the wonderful prints, and the care taken in the quilting and piecework. Made by a local Amish woman.
The back of the quilt is covered with a fine gold on cream floral cotton print. The quilting density is good, averaging about 120 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The stitching is very good with about 7 stitches per inch. A high quality quilt.
