Of course, it seems like only a hot air balloon race is worthy of this title, but here is a magnificent wall quilt or throw, that calls for that title too. Linda has made this with 8 pointed stars using a stack and whack method (meaning the piecer will stack and then cut 8 layers of fabrics identically lined up with the top fabric print) The pieces are all cut exactly alike and - presto - beautiful stars - each finished star being unique depending on what part of the fabric it was cut from. Beautiful and very clever arrangement on background blacks and whites. The top is then paired with a batik backing and filled with a batting layer in the middle. The Amish quilter has used her expertise to stitch together the three layers (similar to a sandwich with two breads and a filler) using her small tiny stitches and getting approximately 8 hand quilted stitches per inch. The wall quilt is a very unique piece, probably only one of it's kind and made with 100% cotton fabrics. Signed and dated on the tag sewn into the back corner.
A high quality quilt.
